Board Meeting Today
You won't be bored at today's board meeting. The board will
consider the 2014 budget proposed by the Budget Committee. A
copy of the agenda is included at the end of this memo. The
meeting will be held at the Ramada and will begin at 1:00
p.m. |
Readers Rejoice
The next meeting of the EE Book Club is tomorrow, Tuesday
November 19, at 2:00 p.m. at
the Ramada. New members are welcome. If you are interested in
joining and want to get started reading, the next book will be Benediction by
Kent Haruf. There won't be a formal meeting in December, and the
next meeting will be January 21. |
Coffee & Donuts
Thanks to the Millers and Cookes,
there's a great reason to get up and going early on the third
Wednesday of every month. Come on down to the Ramada at 8:30
a.m. this Wednesday,
November 20 for
free coffee and donuts to start the day with your neighbors. |
Chicago the Movie for This
Week
Movie Master Kevin
Welsh announces
that the movie for this Wednesday will
be the Academy Award-winning 2002 musical Chicago. Renee Zellweger, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Richard Gere star in
this celebration of scandal and corruption in the 1920s.
Bring your dancing shoes, grab a cushion, wrap up in a
blanket and enjoy Linda
Welsh's popcorn and decaf. The fun begins at 6:30
pm at the Ramada. A $2 donation to the Arts Club
is requested.
Michiganders--Yoopers and Trolls alike--will want to mark
their calendars for Wednesday, November 27, when the movie
Escanaba in da Moonlight will be aired.

Expecting a Baby?
If you plan to have a baby or toddler visiting you this
holiday season, remember that you can borrow equipment such as
car seats and playpens free of charge from our Enhancement
Team. Just call Lorna at
838-0653 if you want to use something. |
Return of the Holiday Elves
EE has a wonderful tradition of decorating our street
light posts for the holiday season from Thanksgiving to
New Years. It looks so festive, and draws lookers from
all over Green Valley. For those of you who don't have
the time, or the energy, or who aren't here during the
holidays, you can enlist the aid of the Enhancement
Elves. They
will do your decorating for a mere $10 if you have the
decorations or $15 if you don't. If you need the
electrical plug-in to go in the socket in your post, the
charge is an additional $2.00, but the adaptor then
becomes yours. The charge includes both putting up and
removing the decorations. Deadline for this service is December
15, so
if you want an elf to appear at your lamp post, call Jackie at
269-7864. They do extremely nice work.

What's That White Stuff?
If you've looked up at the Ramada ceiling this
week you may have noticed a white area. That's a sample of
the potential solution the Board is considering to improve
the acoustics in the Ramada.

End of an Era
Scottie Blum and Norma
Stanley served their last burger at last week's
Burger Night. Eric Ellingson presented them with
commemorative bricks to show the HOA's appreciation for
their hard work as Hospitality Committee Chairs over the
past nine years. We're still hoping a volunteer will step
forward and take over as Hospitality Committee Chair so our
wonderful social events will continue.

Buy a Brick
An EE commemorative brick installed on the Ramada floor
can be a permanent way to say something, honor someone, or
memorialize a person, date or event. Cost is $50, part of
which goes to support the HOA. Normally we can run 3 lines
of 14 characters each, but this can be enhanced at a greater
cost if the three lines are not enough to express your
sentiments. Contact Tom
Cooke at 399-0455 to
place an order.
A good way to say something nice about Fido or Fluffy is to
purchase a Pet Plaque to display on the column at the back
of the Ramada. The cost is $25 and can be ordered by
calling Geri Lindberg at 777-4972.
|
Pop Tops
Reminder that Ellie
Franz collects
tabs from aluminum cans for the Ronald McDonald House in Tucson.
You can deposit your tabs in the green can on the counter in
the Ramada. |
No Parking
Reminder that the "yellow zone" in front of the
Ramada is for short-term parking to load or unload only. It
is the only area where there is wheelchair or walker
access.

The Sons of Orpheus Return to Green Valley
The first of Sons of Orpheus Male Choir's semi-annual
Green Valley concerts will be held at the Green Valley
Performance and Arts Center (CPAC) on Thursday,
December 19, at 7:00 p.m. at 1250 W. Continental
Rd. Tickets are available in advance by phoning the box
office at (520) 399-1750. The cost is $15 in advance or $17
at the door on the night of performance. Soprano Lindsey
McHugh and tenor Brandon Dale will be performing, along with
other U of A and community soloists, including talented teen
violinist Nicole Skaggs. The program will include a variety
of familiar sacred and secular pieces, chosen to thrill and
entertain holiday audiences.

Attention Fellow Ice Cream Lovers
In case you missed the announcement in the Green
Valley News, Old Chicago Deli now sells ice cream. They are
open 7 days a week from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. If you
walk down and back, you can tell yourself you burned off the
calories.
