Budget Committee Meeting
The second meeting of the Budget Committee will be held
at the Ramada today at 10:00
a.m. The
Committee will finalize all budget amounts, look at long range
financial planning and have an opportunity for comments from the
Board prior to final approval of the budgets at the November
Board meeting. You don't need to be a member of the committee to
attend the meeting. All homeowners are welcome. |
Board Meeting
The Board will hold its regular monthly meeting on Monday,
November 17, at 1:00 p.m. at
the Ramada. At the meeting, the Board will be asked to approve
the 2015 budget. Homeowners are encouraged to attend, ask
questions and express their opinions. Attending a Board meeting
is the best way to have a voice in how our HOA is run. |

EE's Salute to Vets/Hospitality Potluck
The first hospitality bash of the season is tomorrow,
November 11, at 5:00 p.m. (food at 5:30) at the Ramada
in honor of Veterans Day. Please bring a dish to share. Soda,
wine, beer and water will be provided by the Hospitality
Committee. It's a great chance to catch up with residents
recently returned for the season. A donation to the Community
Food Bank would be appreciated, and can be deposited at the bin
at the Ramada. |
Green Thumbs Wanted
The EE Gardeners will meet at the Ramada on Wednesday,
November 12 at 1:00 p.m. to
plan their activities. New members are welcome. If you are
interested in participating in the group but can't attend the
meeting, contact Bill
Berdine at
whberdine@roadrunner.com or 344-7301. |
New Interest Groups Forming
Thanks to Barb
Copeland for
facilitating the formation of two new interest groups.
The new Fiber
Arts Group (led
by Barb Copeland) will meet weekly on Thursdays
at 1:00 p.m. at
the Ramada. Meetings will be socializing and working sessions,
so bring your projects to work on during the meetings. Members
are willing to teach anyone interested in learning.
A Genealogy
Group (led
by Joan Moreaux and Jim Copeland) has also started. The first
meeting will be a trip to the LDS Family History Library in
Sahuarita on November
20. Meet at the Ramada at 12:15 to carpool to the
library.
Stay tuned for more information about several other groups that
are in the process of organizing. |
Wednesday Night Movie
This week's movie is Begin Again. Gretta
and her long-time boyfriend Dave are college sweethearts and
songwriting partners who decamp for New York when he lands a
deal with a major label. But the trappings of his new-found fame
soon tempt Dave to stray, and a reeling, lovelorn Gretta is left
on her own. Her world takes a turn for the better when Dan, a
disgraced record-label exec, stumbles upon her performing on an
East Village stage and is immediately captivated by her raw
talent. From this chance encounter emerges a portrait of a
mutually transformative collaboration, set to the soundtrack of
a summer in New York City. Showtime is 6:00
p.m. on Wednesday in
the Ramada. Popcorn will be provided. Donations appreciated
and will go to Crossroads Shelter for Thanksgiving Dinners.
Donations from last week's movie bought 20 dinners. |
Is the Fountain Broken?
If you have recently noticed that the fountain
at the Ramada garden isn't running, you're either an early riser
(up before dawn) or a night-owl (out after dark.) To help
extend the life of the pump in the fountain, Craig
Surprise built
and installed a 'dawn-to-dusk' photo-control. It's like those
on the lamp posts throughout EE, except that it works exactly
backwards! |
The Kitchen Sink
The sink in the Ramada kitchen is looking a
little less dated these days, thanks to the Enhancement
Team's purchase
of a new, sleek faucet to replace the one that wasn't working
properly. (Can granite be far behind?) Thanks also to Greg
Gramstad for
installing the faucet. Oh, by the way, if you can't immediately
figure out how to turn it on, you aren't alone. Several of us
were a bit stymied. Hint: move the handle on the left side
toward you, then right for cold and left for hot. |
Trash
Titan Trash service has informed its customers
that starting December 1, they will pick up trash in EE only on
Thursdays. Recycle will continue to be on Wednesdays.
Reminder that this
week because
of Veterans Day, Titan's recycle day will be on Thursday and
trash pickup on Friday. According to Saguaro/Republic's website,
Veterans Day does not affect their pickup schedule. |
Do You Know Where Your Frost Cloth Is?
While the weather has been warm so far, its not
unheard of to have frost in November. If your frost cloths (or
more likely your old sheets) are stuffed away somewhere in your
garage, now is the time to dig them out. Who knows what else
you might find while you're at it! New to desert gardening?
Covering plants with plastic is not good. |
Can You Help?
The MedianGreen
project on Esperanza near Portillo is currently getting the
final approval from Pima County. After a check by Blue Stake to
identify any underground utilities, the group will be ready to
start developing the median. They are over half way to their
goal in collecting the funds needed to complete the project. Any
size contribution that you can make will help them get the rest
of the way and will be much appreciated. Checks should be made
to MediaGreen with Project #NW47 in the memo section of the
check. All donations are tax deductible; a receipt will be
mailed to you by MedianGreen. The group is also in need of
volunteers to help with site work and/or periodic maintenance.
Please see Barb McCalpin at
the Veterans' Day Potluck or at call 867-8067. Thanks! |
