Monday Morning Memo

Burger Night
The first Burger Night of the fall season will be held tomorrow, Tuesday, October 9, at the Ramada.  The event begins at 4:30 and grilling starts at 5:00.  Cost of a hamburger, cheeseburger or veggie-burger, served with a pickle, chips and a beverage is a mere $6.00.

Please remember the Food Bank donation bin when you come to any social event at the Ramada, and make a donation if you can.

Coffee & Donuts
Mark your calendars now so you don't miss the first free Coffee & Donuts of the fall season to be held on Wednesday, October 17, at 8:30 a.m. at the Ramada.  This is one of the most popular events in EE.  A relaxing way to catch up with returning friends and neighbors.  Thanks to Ken and Kay Miller for sponsoring this event.

October Board Meeting
The next meeting of the HOA Board will take place on Monday, October 15 at 1:00 p.m. at the Ramada.  Among other items on the agenda will be a presentation by the spokesman for a group of EE homeowners who are interested in amending the CC&Rs to allow new, alternative paint colors to the currently required Norfolk Brown.

Photo Contest Deadline
If you plan to submit photos for the Periodico's Photo of the Month contest, remember the deadline is this Wednesday, October 10.  We know there are a lot of good photographers in EE, so please share your work with us.  You can email your submissions to Denise atdroessle@mac.com or deliver them to her at 801 Circulo Napa.

HAZMAT
Do you want to dispose of some hazardous household materials?  A hazardous waste collection will be held on Saturday, October 20 from 8:00 to noon, at the Valley Presbyterian Church parking lot, 2800 S. Camino del Sol.  Most household hazardous waste and medications are accepted.  There is a $10 charge for TVs and some computer monitors. You can also drop off documents for shredding.

Packrats
Several residents have recently reported packrats in their yards and garages.  If you are new to this area, you may not be aware that, while these critters generally build homes under trees and prickly pears, they also view car engine compartments as choice real estate.  Not only do they bring in sticks and cholla joints, they may also chew on the electrical wires and hoses while rearranging their living quarters.  Any cardboard and paper items stored in your garage are very appealing nesting materials.

Go Slowly
October is the month many winter residents return to EE and we know they are in a hurry to get here.  We thought it would be a good time to remind returning residents that the speed limit on parts of La Canada was reduced to 35 mph this summer.

Voter Registration Deadline
A reminder that tomorrow, Tuesday, October 9 is the deadline to register to vote in the November 6 elections.
