Movies Return to Ramada
After a summer hiatus, cooler evening temperatures have inspired the
Arts Club to resume the popular weekly movie nights at the Ramada. This
Wednesday the show will be The Red Skelton Show. Starting
time is 7:00. A donation ($2.00 suggested) to the Arts Club would be
appreciated.
Bring a Book -- Take a Book
Calling all EE readers--if you have a book or two which you have read or
if you would like to read a book you do not have, the new EE Book
Exchange is for you! A cabinet labeled "Book Exchange" is at the
Ramada, inside the gated pool area. Gently read books can be deposited
in the cabinet and taken from the cabinet by any EE resident. The books
can be returned for use by others and there is no limit to what can be
taken for your reading enjoyment. All books are considered donations and
will not be returned to the original owner. In the spring, the
collection will be weeded and some will be donated to the Enhancement
Team's Patio Sale. Thanks to the Team for donating funds for the cabinet
and to Cindy Krantz for suggesting the Book Exchange.
Thanks to Our Pool Checker
Many thanks to Richard Magnuson, our volunteer nightly pool
closer and chemical checker. He recently repaired a hazardous condition
which had developed with the metal covering for the pool cover.
Richard's work in keeping our pool area safe and in good condition is
much appreciated.
Warning!
A brand new sign will greet you when you enter the pool area. The sign
is new but the warning is not -- do not enter the pool or spa without
first showering. It's there as a reminder that body oils and
lotions on your skin will come off in the water and clog up the filters.
Nasty result.
From Our Neighborhood Watch
A huge 'thanks' to Claire Coon and Carol Flatt for their
many years of service as Block Captains. Clair is moving to Tucson and
Carol is retiring as a Block Captain. They both did outstanding work for
the HOA. Welcome to Pat Shipman who has volunteered to assume
Zone 2 on Nueva.
We need a volunteer for Zone 17 (homes on the north side of Regalo, with
addresses 802 - 926). Winter residents are welcome to volunteer. We have
several and they do a great job keeping up with their areas.
Special thanks to the Block Captains who continue to support the HOA.
Contact Mary Beth Wallace Neighborhood Watch Chairperson at
merrymary7@q.com or 399-0299 to volunteer.
October Neighborhood Watch Safety Tips
1. When leaving for vacation--especially with our semi-enclosed
carports--it is not a good idea to leave a car covered with a battery
charger in plain sight. A burglar trolling the neighborhood would see
you are gone and yours would be a very easy home to invade.
2. To be away for an extended amount of time and have weeds, shrubs.
etc. not maintained tells a burglar you are not home.
3. Newspapers, cards, telephone books accumulating on the ground in
front of your home all tell a burglar you are not home and will not be
for an extended amount of time. They could come back at night and take
what they want.
REMEMBER here in Arizona to report any suspicious activity you can call
911.
Ken Miller
Ken and Kay Miller would like to thank their friends in EE for the cards
sent to Ken during his stay in the hospital. Ken is now in Santa Rita,
and cards can be sent to him at his home on 948 Calle del Regalo.
Photos Wanted
The Periodico is looking for photos for the October issue
representing glimpses of daily life in EE. We also welcome photos on any
subject as long as they are taken in EE. Send submissions to
droessle@mac.com or drop them off at 801 Circulo Napa.
GVC Offers Workshop on Tenants in an HOA
GVC holds a number of informative workshops and presentations every
year. Esperanza Estates is a member HOA so attendance is free to any EE
homeowner. On Friday, October 25, GVC will conduct a workshop on
tenants in residency in an HOA at the Las Campanas Social Center
starting at 1:00 p.m. Attorney Carolyn Goldschmidt will
lead the discussion and cover the following topics: legal issues for
rental properties in associations, legal issues for landlords,
management issues, solutions and recommendations. Reservations are
required. To reserve a seat, call the GVC office at 648-1936.
For Military Retirees
Mary Beth Wallace reports that the commissary at Davis-Monthan is
closed until further notice.
