Special Board Meeting Today
EE homeowners are encouraged to attend the special Board meeting at the
Ramada this afternoon at 1 pm to see a computer-aided, virtual
transformation of EE with proposed new trim colors. This meeting will
include a discussion of the proposed CC&R amendment designed to offer
alternatives to Norfolk Brown.
Eat, Drink And Be Scary!
Don't forget EE's annual spookfest this Wednesday at the Ramada starting
at 4:30 p.m. Bring your potluck treat to share. Our Hospitality
Committee will provide soda and adult beverages. Costumes are optional
but fun and let you express your creativity. USA Today reports that Big
Bird costumes have sold out. While you are out and about in EE, check
out the impressive Halloween decorations at the west end of Calle
Excelso and the quad at the intersection of Napa and Vereda Calma.
Talking Trash Reminder
Thursday, November 1, will be the last trash pick-up day for Talking
Trash in EE (and the rest of Green Valley.) Their trucks will pick up
their blue recycle bins on Wednesday, October 31, after picking-up the
recycleables.
Gardeners Meeting
The EE Gardeners will meet at the Ramada on Thursday, November 1, at
1:30. Ideas for landscaping our common areas will be discussed. New
members are welcome. No prior gardening experience is necessary.
Movie Night Is Back!
Movie Night at the Ramada became a very popular event in the spring.
And now that Kevin and Linda Welsh are back from their travels, the
movies will resume. But this time they will be shown on Sunday nights
rather than Saturdays. The first movie will be Snow White and The
Huntsman, a 2012 movie with a scary, Halloween theme. When: November 4
at 7:00 p.m. Admission: a donation to the EE Arts Club ($2.00
suggested). Bring your own refreshments.
Tennis Anyone?
EE residents are encouraged to join their neighbors Fridays at 8 am at
the EE courts for a friendly tennis match or two. Join them afterwards,
if you like, for breakfast at a local restaurant.
November EE Pool Changes
Winter pool hours -- 7am to 7pm -- will begin Thursday, November 1.
AM aqua exercise participants will be able slap the snooze button and
get 30 extra winks starting Friday, November 2. Sessions will
start at 8:30 am rather than 8:00 am.
Don't Touch that Clock!!
No need to change your clock this weekend, but friends and family back
home will be moving their clocks back an hour at 2 am on Sunday,
November 4. Adjust your thinking accordingly when phoning.
Green Valley Time, the custom of arriving 30 minutes early for
everything, remains in effect all year, of course.
EE Hikers on the Move!
Empty the sand out of your boots and clean the mold out of your water
bottles; the EE hikers are heading out. Concetta tells us she's found
Roger's Rock and promises to lead the faithful and fearless to the
elusive spot on Monday, November 5. Meet at the Ramada at 8 am to join
the group.
Bring plenty of water, snacks for energy, money for gas and lots of
enthusiasm. Wear layers, as we'll be in Madera Canyon.
Hiking websites list this as an intermediate hike with rocky trails, ups
and downs and stream crossings. Distance=4.5 miles. Accumulated
Elevation Gain=1450 feet, Time Estimate (for serious hikers) 2.5 hours.
For EE hikers this translates to approximately 4 hours.
GVC Golf Tournament
The First Annual Benefit HOA Golf Tournament will be held at the Green
Valley Country Club on December 3rd, starting at 8:30 a.m. The proceeds
will help support the activities and services provided by GVC. The
tournament format is a 4 person scramble (men, women, combination) and
includes lunch and prizes. The winning HOA will receive a trophy and
bragging rights for the year. If you want to participate call Joe
McCalpin at 867-8067. Come on EE golfers, let's show them we are the
best!
Scams
An EE resident reported receiving two suspicious mailings recently, one
requesting money. She turned the information over the the SAV fraud
squad. According to Lou Sampson of SAV, single women are high priority
targets and returning winter residents are vulnerable targets.

Valley.
Love and Romance
Back in 2009, 23 residents of Esperanza Estates wrote their own personal
love stories (with the able assistance of Sandy Reed) which were
compiled in a book titled "Love Stories of Esperanza Estates." A
few copies of this fascinating collection of real life love stories are
still available, and for sale at $6.00 each. This is your chance to read
the personal love stories of a number of EE movers and shakers, and to
learn a few things about them you didn't know--and would love to learn!
Who found love in a strange place? Whose wanderlust led to romance? Who
found a lifetime valentine? Who had an international romance? Find the
answers, and a lot more, in "Love Stories of Esperanza Estates." Call
Melodye at 399-0455, or send her an email at
melodye1@cox.net, to obtain a copy.
Neighborhood Watch
From Mary Beth Wallace, EE Neighborhood Watch Captain
"Winter residents: we need to know of any changes in your summer home
numbers that we list on Neighborhood Watch.
ALL residents: have you made any changes to who has a key to your home,
or changes in your emergency contact's name and phone numbers? This is
information we need to keep our Neighborhood Watch current and who to
contact in case of emergency.
Contact me at 399-0299 or
merrymary7@q.com to update your information."
West Desert
Many EE residents enjoy using the West Desert Trails, formerly called
the West Desert Preserve. If you want to access this area, you need a
new pass. Fortunately, it is free and you can obtain one on the West
Desert Trails website at wdtrails.com. The
website also contains important information about the area.
Our Website
Our webmaster is always updating and adding new material to our website
esperanzaestates.net. It's
worth checking it periodically to see what's new.
