Harvest Fest
The Hospitality Committee is back and preparing for the first social event of the season.  In recognition of all the veterans who live in EE, the event will take place at the Ramada on Tuesday, November 11. Social hour starts at 5:00 (so, don't show up at the usual 4:30) and potluck starts at 5:30.  Please bring your favorite entree, side dish, salad or dessert to share.  The theme is harvest/autumn dishes.  Beer, wine and place settings will be provided by the Committee. A short program and patriotic music is planned to honor our vets.

Wednesday Movie at the Ramada
Our Halloween Movie this year is Young Frankenstein. Fell free to bring spooky treats. Proceeds are going to the food bank to buy turkeys for Thanksgiving.  Movie showing at 6:00 p.m. in the Ramada.

Now Is the Time to Check the EE Directory
Now is a good time to check the EE Names and Address Directory to be sure you are listed correctly.  If you are a new resident, you should have received a complimentary copy in your Neighborhood Watch information packet, so take a look and consider how you want your listing to appear.  New Directories will be available in January, but please don't wait until the last minute to send in corrections or changes. Contact Cheri Day at thedays007@aol.com now so she won't have to scramble at the end to give you the listing you want.

EE Newcomers
Prepare to be welcomed EE style.  Esperanza Estates goes out of its way to let new residents know we're glad you are here. You may already have been contacted by your Neighborhood Watch Block Captain. Be sure Neighborhood Watch always has your updated contact information.  This can be really important in an emergency.
You'll soon be contacted by a member of EE's official welcoming committee, Bienvenidos.  They'll be calling to set up a brief visit with you and give you some information about our subdivision and its many activities.  On December 3, Bienvenidos will hold its annual newcomers reception.  You'll receive your invitation in November, but please mark your calendars now.

A Reminder about Lampposts
Take a look around tonight to see if your lamppost bulb, or a neighbor's, is burned out.  If so, just call 867-8067, 398-4829 or 399-0455 to report it.  A volunteer will stop by to install an energy-efficient, 13 Watt, 'soft-white' CFL bulb at no cost.
The Board policy of supplying replacement bulbs started in 2010, when all 331 lampheads in EE were replaced.  At that time, the Board elected to standardize on high-efficiency CFL bulbs; to ensure the speedy replacement of any burned out bulbs--even when homeowners were away--and to achieve uniform brightness and color throughout the neighborhood, the decision was made to provide replacement bulbs for free.
(Also worth noting: the EE CC&Rs require lampposts to be lit year-round between dusk and dawn, regardless of whether a house is occupied or not, so the electric service to all houses in EE must remain turned on at all times.)

Sausage Sale
The Optimist Club's Fall Sausage Sale has begun.  The last day to purchase is November 11th, and the pickup date is November 22nd at Woodward Construction.  The Club is selling tickets for 4 lb (approx) packages containing 10 sausages in your choice of Hot or Regular Italian Sausage Links for $22.  No bulk this year.
You can place your order through Optimist Club members at the following locations:
- Green Valley Mall Wednesday Farmers Market October 29th & November 5th.
- The Pecan Festival in Sahuarita on November 8th.
Or, call Kevin Welsh at 231-838-6851 to purchase your tickets. All proceeds go to local youth scholarships and programs.

Border Patrol 101
The Green Valley Council is sponsoring a presentation by
Agent Ben Braker of the U.S. Border Patrol on Tuesday, November 4 at 9:30 a.m. at the Desert Hills Social Center on Camino del Sol.  Agent Braker will discuss the Border Patrol's mission statement and goals, the life of an agent, the future of the Border Patrol, the state of the Tucson Sector, and technology.
The presentation is free; no pre-registration is needed.
