Good Morning:
Problems the
last couple of weeks in delivering the Monday Morning Memo
continue. They have been traced to Cox Cable, the Internet
Service Provider we have traditionally used to transmit the
Memo. It seems they have a new policy that automatically
declares any e-mail being sent to over 5 recipients from one
address as spam, and blocks it. We are working with Cox to try
and get an exception for the Memo; if you receive this, it may
indicate success. (Webmaster: as of Monday morning, we now
know this didn't work.)
Please
remember the Memo is available on our website
www.esperanzaestates.net almost as soon as it is
published. If we continue to have problems, we may have to
explore going with a commercial service to transmit the Memo.
About 50 people enjoyed the first fall Hamburger Nite last
Tuesday. It was a very nice evening and the Hospitality
Committee was in their usual fine form. Nice to begin to see
some of our winter visitors returning to spend the next months
with us. We welcome them all back.
The first Free Coffee and Donuts at the Ramada was held
Wednesday morning beginning at 8:00 a.m. A small but sociable
crowd shared coffee and goodies together. Watch for these
events; they are usually held the second Wednesday of each
month. They are free of charge, and have as their only goal
promoting social interchange among the neighbors here in EE. All
expenses for this event are donated, and there is no cost to the
HOA.
Repeated above normal chlorine readings at the pool have
resulted in the need to install a timer on our salt system to
cause it to operate a bit differently than has been the case.
This should correct the problem. A new deck thermometer has been
installed for the spa, as the old one was giving erroneous
readings.
Another patch was put on a new leak in the in-ground watering
system in the pool enclosure. The system is pretty old, and
parts of it will need replacement in the not-too-distant future.
The October Board meeting will be held today, at the Ramada,
beginning at 1:00.p.m. and all homeowners are invited to
attend. Printed copies of the agenda will be available at
the Ramada prior to the start of the meeting.
Remember the Hospitality Committee’s Halloween Gala, to be held
October 31 at the Ramada. Costumes are optional, but prizes will
be awarded to the best man’s and woman’s costume. There will be
a fortune teller and karaoke, and it should be a regular
graveyard smash. It will be a pot luck, so plan on bringing your
favorite dish to share. Hospitality will provide drinks, ice,
mixers, etc. Watch for further details.
Congratulations to Stoney Brown, winner of the Periodico trivia
contest last month. His prize was a free ticket at Hamburger
Nite. This will be a regular feature in the future issues of the
Periodico, so watch for it and play the game. You can use any
form of help to answer the questions, e.g.; Google'ing, asking
your smart neighbor, looking it up in a book, or whatever to
find the answers. The winner will receive a nice prize, so send
in those cards and letters.
A flashlight was left at the Ramada following Hamburger Nite.
Call 399-0455 and describe to claim it.
Best news of the week: all miners out and safe from the San Jose
Mine in Chile. Well done.
Have a good week.
