Household Hazardous Waste Collection
The annual hazardous waste collection day is next Saturday, October
19th. Bring your waste to the Valley Presbyterian
Church parking lot on Camino del Sol between 8:00
a.m. and noon. To reduce traffic, please try to
pool your material with your neighbors'. Besides the usual
hazardous waste -- paint, herbicides, solvents, automotive
fluids, etc. -- the collection also includes expired
medications through the Dispose-a-Med program. A shredding
service will also be provided by the GVC Community Service
Committee on a first come first served basis until the truck
is full. To offset the cost of this service, participants
are asked to bring some non-perishable food items to benefit
the Community Food Bank. Contact Joe
McCalpin at
867-8067 or Pat
Sharpe at
625-7716 if you have any questions.
(A reminder: you don't need to wait for a HHW event to
dispose of old meds; just drop them off at the SAV office.)

Fall in Green Valley Moves Pickleball Schedule Forward
We're not like the clocks of daylight savings time. Here we just
change our schedule a bit. Court Master Kevin Welsh is trying
out a new 8:00
AM start for
Tuesday and Thursday pickleball practice. So sit back and enjoy
another cup of coffee before heading to the courts. That'll give
you time to don your long underwear if the lows drop all the way
down into the mid-fifties. We're so spoiled. |
Board Meeting
Reminder that the next meeting of the EEHOA Board will take
place next Monday, October 21 at 1:00 p.m. at
the Ramada. All residents are encouraged to attend. It's
one of the best ways to find out what's happening in our
HOA.

Please Help the Periodico
We're looking for stories for future editions, and hope
you'll dust off your photo albums and memories and share
some cherished memories with our readers. Here's what we
are currently looking for -- can you help us out? 1. A
keepsake with a good story. 2. Your warmest memories of
your family Christmas tree. 3. How you met your spouse.

Dick Rose Returns from Honor Flight
EE resident Dick Rose reports that despite the rainy
weather his trip with the Tucson Charter Honor Flight was a
thrill. More than 1,300
people-including many active duty military--packed the
arrival area of Tucson International Airport to greet the
returning honorees. A KOLD news crew traveled with the
Tucson group and is producing a special program about the
Honor Flight. It is scheduled to air on Veterans
Day, November 11.

More Phone Books
Looks like the Phone Book Fairy has been at it
again. The Green Valley, Sahuarita, Tubac, Nogales, etc.
Yellow Pages have been plopped on our doorsteps this
weekend. Do an absentee neighbor a favor and move their
book out of sight. They'll thank you.
