Let The Grilling Begin!
The first of the popular Burger Nights, sponsored by our wonderful Hospitality Committee, will be held next week,Tuesday, October 9 at the Ramada. The event begins at 4:30 and grilling starts at 5:00.  For the nominal fee of $6.00 you can enjoy a hamburger, cheeseburger, or veggie-burger, chips, a pickle and a beverage. Come on over and catch up with your friends and neighbors.

Please remember our continuing program of trying to help our local Food Bank, and will have a bin for donations at our Ramada events. The need for nutritional assistance in our community is great, and our help is needed.

Boo!
It's October and time to start planning your costume for the annual Halloween Pot Luck hosted by the Hospitality Committee on Wednesday, October 31.  While costumes are optional, they certainly add to the fun of this first community-wide potluck of the new event season.  Need costume ideas?  Check out the photos on our website esperanzaestates.net to see what creative residents wore last year.

Pool Duties
Tom will be away for several weeks, and Bruce Liljegren has agreed to handle the pool responsibilities during that time.  You can contact Bruce at 829-6690.

Picture Perfect
If you've been to the Ramada lately, you've no doubt noticed Jim Lindberg's Photo of the Year.  Next year, one of your own photos could be hanging in that coveted spot.  But you don't stand a chance of winning if you don't submit a photo to the Periodico's Photo of the Month Contest.  So don't just sit there, start snapping those pictures now!  The deadline to enter the October contest is October 10. Deliver your submission to Denise Roessle at droessle@mac.com or by hand at 801 Circulo Napa.  Contest details are included in the September issue of the Periodico.

Swinging for Emiliano

On October 14 a benefit golf tournament will be held at Haven Golf Course to benefit 11 year old Emiliano Gomez, a cancer patient undergoing costly chemotherapy. It will be a scramble format, with 4 person teams. The cost is $60 per player, which includes a catered lunch. Play will begin at 8:00 am, and there will be prizes, games, and a fun time!  Advance registration and payment is required, with checks to be made out to Marvol Barnard and given to her or dropped off at the Haven Golf Course. Contact Marvol at (520) 591-1475, or email to MarvolBarnard@gmail.com to register or for more information. This benefit tournament was set up and will be administered by EE's own Marvol, a nationally recognized golf professional, certified by both national golf organizations, and recently designated one of the top 50 women golf teachers in the entire United States. This is your chance to help the family of a young man who seriously needs it, and to spend some time with a golf legend.

Another Golf Tournament
Green Valley Council is sponsoring a golf tournament on 3 December at the Country Club of Green Valley.  The fee is $75/person.  There will be prizes, hole-in-one contests, and a lunch (choice of barbequed pork or beef.)Contact Joe McCalpin (520) 867-8067 for information and a sign-up sheet.  This fund raiser will help defray some of the Council's expenses.  Let's have at least two teams from EE.

HAZMAT
GVC is sponsoring a household hazardous waste collection day on Saturday, October 20, from 8:00 - noon at the Valley Presbyterian Church parking lot, 2800 S. Camino del Sol.  Most household hazardous waste and medications are accepted. There is a $10 fee for disposing of TVs and computer monitors with CRTs; if a monitor is accompanied by a CPU, the fee is just $2.  To view the entire list of accepted and non-accepted items, click here.  You can also drop off old documents for shredding.
