January 31

Good Morning:

The Enhancement Team's Dessert Buffet was held Sunday night at the Ramada, and was a huge success! More than 100 people showed up to enjoy an array of collations the likes of which has never before been seen in Esperanza Estates. There were cakes, pies, torts, fruit, cheese, puddings, sweetbreads, nuts, cookies, candies, toppings, and every sweet combination in between, along with coffee and tea. All of the many desserts were donated by EE residents for use at the Buffet. The evening also marked the initiation of the brand new colorful Ramada tablecloths, purchased by Enhancement as a gift for use at Ramada functions. There was an old-fashioned Cake Walk as part of the entertainment, along with stand-up acts by some of our resident comedians. It was a very fun event for all.  Many thanks to the Enhancement Team for planning and putting on the Buffet, and to all of our local culinary talent who made the many and varied desserts we enjoyed. This was a fund raiser, and all proceeds will be used by the Team for the betterment of our neighborhood. When the Team succeeds, we all succeed.

Remember the next Hamburger Nite at the Ramada on Tuesday, February 8. Cocktails at 4:30 and grilling at 5:00. The Hospitality Committee event offers Hamburgers, Cheeseburgers or veggi-burgers, plus table service, chips, and a drink, for the nominal sum of only $5.00.  Come down and see why these events are so popular. Come once and you'll be a regular!

The new EE Directory will be available for sale at Hamburger Nite, so if you would like a copy, this is the place to get one (or more). Or, if you are unable to attend, call Mary Beth Wallace at 399-0299.

There will be Free Coffee & Donuts at the Ramada on Wednesday, February 9, beginning at 8:30. Come on down and start your morning with coffee, pastry, and conversation with your friends and neighbors.

The Volunteer Landscape Work Crew will start its third clean up project on Wednesday, February 9, at 9:30 a.m. (immediately after coffee & donuts). Volunteers should meet at the Ramada. New volunteers are always welcome.

The January Periodico came out last week and is available on-line. Charl Petry is collecting the names of residents who need a printed copy delivered to them. If you cannot read the on-line version and cannot pick up a printed copy at the Ramada, call Charl (648-2541) to have a volunteer deliver a copy to you. The Periodicos at the Ramada may be found in a container on the pillar at the entrance. We expect them to available there no later than Thursday of the week following the monthly Board meeting.

If you are an EE volunteer in any capacity, plan to attend the Volunteer Dinner, being planned for March 27, at 4:00 p.m. at the Ramada.  Our annual Volunteer of the Year Award will be presented that evening at the banquet, which will be a catered affair to honor all those who help us in the operation of our HOA during the year. Invitations will go out in the future, so watch for yours. More on this event will follow.  If you would like to nominate someone for Volunteer of the Year, please contact Kay Miller at 393-1914 or gvkaybaby@msn.com by February 15th.

The Board has approved an Enhancement Team plan for the construction of a masonry wall in the southeast corner of our Ramada to hide trash cans and cleaning implement storage area. Cost of the project will be entirely born by the Team, and no HOA funds will be used. This will enhance the Ramada by making the trash area less obtrusive. Construction will begin this week, and should be finished within a few days. Design and specifications for the wall were done by Jim Lindberg, a professional architect who frequently aids the Team in its projects. This is one of the reasons it pays to support the Enhancement Team's projects--all of the funds they raise are spent to improve our neighborhood, and to give back to us. When you support the Team, you help yourself.

Keep in mind Sunset Ramada is an amenity available to you as a resident of Esperanza Estates. It is here for all of us to enjoy. If you wish to have a party, reunion, or other gathering you can use the Ramada at no charge, and there are only a few simple rules. Call 399-0455 for details, or if you have questions.

Have a good week.
