A Touch of Class
Bravo to the Arts Club (and chief organizers Stacie
Meyer, Marla Ries and Joey Sourant) for organizing the
highly successful, sophisticated and elegant Art Auction last
Friday, complete with champagne, wine (in bottles!) and gourmet
cheeses. Thanks also to all those who donated the many
exceptional pieces. The event was well attended as residents
competed to win treasures created or donated by residents. The
auction showcased the extraordinary talent and generosity of our
neighbors. The coffers of the Arts Club have now been increased
by $3,526, and the funds will go toward enhancing the new shade
tree park and other future Arts Club projects. |
Arts Club Projects/Workshops
At 1:00
p.m today, the Arts Club will begin decorating the
enormous flower pots you may have seen at the Ramada. They'll
also be creating some splendid pieces to fill the niches along
the swimming pool wall. Join them and be inspired. You'll feel
like Michelangelo invited you to help decorate the Sistene
Chapel.
On March 11 at 10:30 a.m., club members will create yard art for
their homes. Bring some colorful dinnerware and learn to make
flowers. All are welcome. |
Genealogy Group Meeting
The EE Genealogy Group will meet on Wednesday,
January 28 at 10:00 a.m. in
the Ramada. Please bring your family information and a computer
to access online information. Contact Joan
Moreaux at
648-7515 with any questions. |
Birthday Bash
Cake, ice cream, gifts, games, fun. You'll find all that and
more at the Enhancement Team's Birthday Bash in the Ramada on Sunday,
February 8 at 2:00 p.m. when we'll celebrate everyone's
birthday. Games and gifts for all will keep things
lively. Tickets are $5.00 per person, and everyone is asked to
bring an inexpensive ($5 max) gift or a "re-gift." Gifts should
be wrapped and marked for male, female or general. You can
purchase a ticket by calling Marian Mundale 625-2238 or Louise
McCabe 445-6237.

Lazy Susan Class
Jim Copeland is
willing to teach up to 5 people how to make a
mesquite/turquoise inlaid Lazy Susan similar to the one
he donated to the Arts Club auction. The cost for
materials will be $25-50, depending on the diameter you
build. No woodworking skills are needed and this
project
would be fine for men or women. The tools needed are a
saber saw and orbital sander. (Jim has one of each and
can locate more if you do not have one.) It
will take three sessions to complete the project. The
first will involve planning and purchasing the
hardware and wood, including a trip to the Mesquite
lumber yard. The second and third sessions will involve
sanding and finishing. All sessions will take place in
Jim's garage on three consecutive Wednesdays, February
11, 18 and 25 at 1:00 p.m. and will run about 2 hours each.
If interested, contact Jim at (952) 250-5399 (leave a voice message if he doesn't pick up.)
