Don't Forget
to Vote
If you didn't
mail in your EE Board Ballot, hang on to it and deliver it at
the Annual Meeting, today Monday, January 20.
The meeting starts at 2:00
pm with check-in
beginning at 1:30 pm. It's at the Desert Hills Social
Center once again. |
Hikers Take to the Trail on Tuesday
EE Hikers meet at 8
am Tuesday to
head for the Santa Ritas' Devil's Cache Box. The hike will be a
full sun hike, 4-5 miles long at 5,000 foot elevation with an
800 foot gain. Meet at the Ramada with $2 carfare and plenty of
water. Fearless
Leader Marian Mundale is also planning a hike for Monday,
January 27. E-mail her at mm122169@hotmail.com if
you'd like to be on the list for early information. |
EE Directories
The EE Names and Address Directory will be for sale at the
annual HOA meeting on Monday or by calling Mary
Beth Wallace at
399-0299. The price is $4.00. According to Mary Beth, the
price increase is the result of the addition of pages to accommodate
the larger and darker print to facilitate reading. |
Arts Club Project
The Arts Club is starting on a project to place colorful
pots in the common area parks. They are meeting on Wednesday
at 1:00 p.m. in
the Ramada to begin design work, and to cull and sort tile.
The meeting is open to all residents interested in mosaic tile
work. |
Home
Decor/Fiber Arts Aficionados
The newly combined home decor and fiber arts groups will meet at
the Ramada at 10
a.m. on Thursday, January 23. The topic will be "good
design elements." |
EE's Best Chili
The first chili cook-off hosted by the Hospitality Committee
last week was a huge success, with over 120 chili lovers in
attendance. The 19 entries represented a wide range of tastes
from mild to wild. Terry Shay was
awarded the coveted
chili cook-off apron for
his "white lightning chicken chili." Rumor has it that Terry
and Donna couldn't agree on the kind of chili to make, so they
each submitted their own. Donna has allegedly threatened to sew
ruffles on Terry's apron. Thanks to the committee for a
fun-filled event and to those who lent their terrific
decorations to create a western ambiance. |
Hot Desert
Landscapers to the Rescue
Give the guys
from Hot Desert Landscaping a high-five next time you encounter
them. Arriving at the Ramada early last Wednesday, they noticed
Tom Cooke furiously working to remove remnants of a pesky
peccary raid. Neighborhood javelinas had sniffed out Chili
Cook-off remnants in the trash and left a mess behind. The
landscapers pitched in to ready the Ramada in time for coffee
and donuts. |
Another Great Coffee & Donuts Gathering
Thanks to the Millers and
the Cookes,
over 50 EE residents who needed a mild chaser after the chili
fest, enjoyed the monthly free coffee and donuts at the Ramada
on Wednesday morning. Marla Ries won
the door prize, a $25 Safeway gift certificate, which she
generously donated to the Hospitality Committee for future
events. |
Dessert Buffet
Celebrate Valentine's Day on February
14 at the
Enhancement Team's dessert buffet. Sampling of your choice of
desserts starts at 6:00 p.m. Cost of a ticket is $5.00 and
includes entry into the drawing for a "really neat gift." You
can purchase your ticket at the annual HOA meeting or by calling Sandi
Oster (625-0039)
or Marian
Mundale (625-2239).
The Team is also accepting donations of desserts. Call Sandi or
Marian to donate one of your yummy creations. |
Parade Meeting
Come to the Ramada on Wednesday,
January 29 at 10:00 to
hear the plans for EE's entry for the White Elephant Parade next
October. We want to finish the float this spring before
seasonal residents leave. Even if you won't be back in time to
be in the parade, you can still join in the fun of working on
the float. We need carpenters, painters, creative types and
general helpers. If you can't make the meeting, but want to be
part of this great neighborhood project, contact Cynthia
Surprise at
cjsurprise@verizon.net.

Please, Have
Your Dog Read This
So good to have
our four-footed friends returning from the northland with their
owners in tow. Unfortunately, however, reports of unwanted
"calling cards" are on the rise. If your owner has
difficulty remembering to carry pooh-pooh pick-up bags,
try wrapping your leash around a produce bag before putting it
away. |
Share Your Citrus The
Food Bank's annual gleaning program is underway and will
continue through April 18. Volunteers will go to your home, pick
the citrus at no charge to you, and deliver it to the food bank
for distribution to their clients. The Food Bank also accepts
citrus that you have picked. You can deliver or they will pick
up. Donation hours are: Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 2:00
p.m. Call 625-5252 for information or to make a gleaning
appointment. |
