EEHOA Annual Meeting Today
The meeting will be held at Desert Hill Recreation
Center, 2980 S. Camino del Sol. Sign in starts at 1:00
p.m. and the
meeting begins at 1:30.
EE Name and Address Directories will be available for $3.00 and
EE license plates for $10. |
Coffee & Donuts
The Cookes and the Millers will generously sponsor their monthly free coffee and donuts on
Wednesday, January 21 at 8:00 a.m. at the
Ramada. Heaters will warm your body, companionship will warm
your spirit. |
Work Off Those Donuts with Dick Carver and the Irrigation
Installers
Maybe had one donut too many? Join Dick
Carver at
the New Shade Tree Park area Wednesday
at 9:30 am to
install the irrigation system. No hard digging required; he's
got a trencher for that. Pipe gluing and laying, covering and
raking will be the main activities. Bring work gloves, a flat
spade and a rake if you've got them. |
Food Bank Donations
Tom Cooke tells us that the last load of EE donations that he
took to the food bank weighed in at 47 pounds. Another great
thing about living in EE--generosity. Drop your donations into
the bin next time you come by the Ramada. The bin sits right at
the entry. |
Bid High!
The Arts Club's Art Auction is this Friday,
January 23 from 4:00 p.m. (note the new time) to 5:30 p.m. at the
Ramada. As you nosh on some cheese and crackers and sip on a
little wine or champagne, you'll have an opportunity to make
a silent bid on some exceptional items created and donated
by EE residents. (Please be sure to read the
important information below from Marla Ries.)
Proceeds of this event will help to support the new Shade
Park and other future Arts Club projects. Estimated prices
on items will range from a few dollars to the hundreds of
dollars. Winning bidders must pay for their items at the
end of the auction, so don't forget your checkbook.
Marla reports that you'll
have an opportunity to bid on nearly 60 items. You'll simply
add your name and bid amount to the bid sheet accompanying
each item. But, you will need to pay a bit of attention as the
bidding will close at staggered times. (For
instance, 20 items at 4:30 p.m., 20 items at 5:00 p.m., the
balance at 5:30 p.m.) Many fabulous items have been donated,
such as an original oil painting (this piece would sell for
$750 in a gallery), a custom made mesquite table, quirky
yard art, unique jewelry, lovely Southwest art and hand knit
wool items.

Let Them Eat Cake!
And ice cream too. There will be plenty of both at the
Enhancement Team's Birthday Bash in the Ramada on Sunday,
February 8 at 2:00 p.m. when
we'll celebrate everyone's birthday. Games and gifts for all
will keep things lively. Tickets
are $5.00 per person, and everyone is asked to bring an
inexpensive ($5 max) gift or a "re-gift". Gifts should be
wrapped and marked for male, female or general. You can purchase
a ticket at the EEHOA Annual Meeting or by calling Marian
Mundale 625-2238
or Louise
McCabe 445-6237. |
Arts Club Projects/Workshops
On January 26
at 1:00 p.m., the Arts Club will begin to decorate huge
flower pots with ceramic tiles and will start work on decorative
tile for the Ramada niches. Everyone is invited to help with
the project. No prior experience needed. Club members will
gladly show you what to do.
On March 11
at 10:30 a.m., club members will create yard art for
their homes. Bring some colorful dinnerware and learn to make
flowers. All are welcome. |
S.O.S. Save Our Spa
Tom Cooke tells
us that recent on-again-off-again behaviors exhibited by EE's
spa (hot tub) have been attributed to a dirty filter. Sand in
the filter will be replaced by pool techs to resolve the
problem. The life of the filter will be extended when users
take a thorough shower before entering the spa.
Your
showering experience on chilly days should be more pleasant now
as a result of a new heater Craig Surprise recently installed
in the men's shower room. If it proves to be more effective than
the exposed heat lamps previously installed, a
second one will be installed in the women's shower room. Please
contact Tom with comments about your experience. |
Javelinas Like Your Trash?
A number of residents who leave their trash containers
out the night before pickup or use their in ground cans have
been unpleasantly surprised to find their trash all over the
street the next morning. A Republic driver recently mentioned
to a resident that he has seen people hang a bag of mothballs on
the containers or in the in-ground can as a way to deter
javelinas. It might be worth a try, but success is not
guaranteed. |
Household Hazardous Waste
Got it? Dispose of it safely at GVC's Household
Hazardous Waste Collection Event on Saturday, January 31,
8:00 a.m. to noon in the Valley Presbyterian Church parking lot
on Camino del Sol. Neighbors are encouraged to consolidate their
material with their neighbors' to limit traffic congestion at
the event. |
