Hope Camp is
Tuesday's Hike
Yup, this week's EE Hike is taking place on Tuesday. Load
up on plenty of water if you plan to join Fearless Leader Marian
Mundale for this hike in the Rincon Mountains. This is a 5.8
mile hike with only 600 feet of elevation gain, but a warm
weather hike in the open desert will empty those water bottles
quickly.
Meet at the
Ramada at 8
am with $6
carfare per person. Plan on a return after 2 pm. Bring your
senior pass if you plan on driving. |
Gentlemen
(and Ladies) Start Your Crock Pots
Tuesday, January 14, marks
the First Annual EE Chili Cook Off. For a mere $5 EE
residents will be allowed a taste of each contestant's unique
submission. Secret ballots will be utilized to determine
the awarding of the coveted winner's apron. Be at the Ramada at 5:00
pm to join
in the fun. With a cowboy (cowgirl) theme going for this event,
it's a good chance to wear your fancy western duds. Did you
know? Jesse James, outlaw and desperado of the old American
West, refused to rob a bank in McKinney, Texas because that is
where his favorite chili parlor was located. |
Coffee & Donuts
There's no nicer way to start out these nippy January mornings
than with a cup of hot coffee with neighbors at the Ramada.
Come on over this Wednesday,
January 15, at 8:30 a.m.
Heaters will be on if needed. Thanks to the Cookes and
the Millers for
sponsoring this free event. |
Arts Club Meeting
The Arts Club will meet on Wednesday,
January 15, at 10:00 a.m. at
the Ramada. There's still time to become involved in the
exciting projects the group has planned for 2014. New
members are always welcome.
|
Hang on to
Those Ballots
If you haven't
yet mailed your EE Board Ballot, hang on to it and deliver it at
the Annual Meeting, Monday,
January 20. You can preserve the secrecy of you
ballot by placing it in the small Ballot envelope before
delivering it in the larger one marked with your address and lot
number. The meeting starts at 2:00
pm with check-in
beginning at 1:30 pm. It's at the Desert Hills Social
Center once again. |
Arivaca Home Tour
The EE Adventure Club will journey to Arivaca for the
annual home tour on Saturday,
January 25. Five unique homes in this fascinating
town will be open for viewing and decorating inspiration.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the Green Valley
Chamber of Commerce in advance or at the Arivaca Artists'
Co-op on the day of the tour. We will car pool from
the Ramada leaving at about 9:00 a.m. The homes open at 10.
In light of the multiple locations of the homes and how
crowded Arivaca will be that day, we are not organizing a
formal lunch gathering. Each group will decide their own
arrangements. You may want to bring a snack with you. If
you are interested in going, contact Cynthia
Surprise at
cjsurprise@verizon.net. Please indicate if you would be
willing to drive. |
The Gardeners Wish to Thank...
Ben and Mona Sheffield for
their donation,
Joan
White for donating
three perennial plants for Mtn. View Park, Nancy

donating a bench to be placed at the sports courts, and Stacie
Meyer for
donating her time and talent to decorate five benches with
mosaic tile. You can view her latest creation in Whigham Wash
on S. Circulo Napa. |
Dessert Buffet
The Enhancement Team's dessert buffet will be held on February
14. Tickets are $5.00 and may be purchased at the
Annual HOA Meeting or by calling Sandi
Oster (625-0039)
or Marian
Mundale (625-2239). |
EE Directories
Thanks to the phenomenal efforts of
our database administrator, Cheri
Day, copies of the EE Names and Address Directory will
be available for purchase at the Annual Meeting. If you are not
attending the meeting, you can buy a directory by contacting Mary
Beth Wallace at
merrymary7@q.com or 399-0299. |
Book Club Meeting
The next meeting of the EE Book Club will take place on Tuesday,
January 21, at 1:00 p.m. at
the Ramada. The group will discuss Benediction by Kent Haruf. |
Two in One
Donna Shay is
combining the Fiber Arts and Home Decor discussion groups into
one since they share common topics. The next meeting will be on Thursday,
January 23, at 10:00 a.m. at
the Ramada. |
Annual Local
Authors Showcase
Do you love
great writing? And a delicious lunch? The Santa Cruz Valley
Chapter of the Society of Southwestern Authors will hold its 7th
Annual Local Authors Showcase on Saturday, February
7th, at the Lavender Restaurant. Eight authors will
read from their works of fiction, memoir, poetry and humor. EE
resident Richard
Chamberlin (Napa)
will be among the readers. Tickets cost $20 until January 15 or
$24 after that. Deadline for ticket purchase is January 24.
Email Denise Roessle at droessle@mac.com
and she will facilitate your ticket purchase.
