"The Help" Showing Wednesday Evening
Octavia Spencer, Viola Davies and Emma Stone star in "The Help", the award winning film chronicling the lives of a group of "colored women" working as housemaids in Mississippi in the 60's. Thanks to Jane and Eric Ellingson, the movie is showing Wednesday evening at 7 pm in the Ramada.
 

EE's Marvol Barnard in the News
Congratulations to local golf pro, Marvol Barnard on passing the Professional Golf Association's Certified Professional Program 2.0 training programs for Player Development and Teaching and Coaching.  The Green Valley News notes that only 14 PGA members have earned that honor.
Never played golf, we hear that a few sessions with Marvol will have you loving the game.

Stay Home Kitty Kitty
A resident reports that three dead cats have been found in our neighborhood. It's possible that they were inadvertently poisoned. Birds and cats may find and consume poison meant for pack rats or ground squirrels; they may also be poisoned by eating dead rodents they find. Keeping cats indoors is wise in Green Valley for many reasons. If you see a cat roaming free, you can call Paws Patrol at 207-4027. They'll set a live trap and come to pick up the trapped animal.

Today is Labor Day. Save yourself a trip to the curb by checking your refuse hauler's schedule.  They may be coming on a different day this week.

The course list for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute ('OLLI') Green Valley Campus will be available at noon today.  Check it out at www.olli.arizona.edu. Not sure if you're interested in OLLI?  Chat with representatives at the information table at Joyner Green Valley Library on Tuesday and Wednesday, September 6 & 7 from 9 am til noon.  Not even sure what OLLI is?  Attend the 'Discover OLLI-UA' presentation from 1 pm to 2:30 pm on Friday, September 9, at the Community Learning Center adjacent to the Community Center for the Performing Arts.
