Taco Night at the Ramada
Tuesday, August 8, is the date for the EE Summer Taco Bar event. Enjoy tacos, re-fried beans, dessert, beer, wine & soda for just $7. The fans will be on. Still too hot? Bring a swim suit and jump into the pool to cool off. Start time is 6:00 p.m

Wednesday Night Movie at the Ramada
This week's movie is Lawrence of Arabia. Made in 1962, it has been called "the epic of all epics." Showtime is 7:15 p.m.
EE thanks Eric & Jane Ellingson for sponsoring this event.

Keeping Your Yard Weed Free During Monsoons
Green Valley is truly green this summer, due to the almost daily rains. While the Tom & Boyd Weed Patrol deals with our common area weeds, owners are responsible for weeds on their property. Pre-emergent treatments, herbicides and plain old back-breaking weed pulling may be needed in your yard. If there are weeds out of control on your property, the HOA may deal with them and send you the bill, plus a 50% service fee. If you have a hardship making it physically or financially impossible to address weed issues, help is available. Please call Tom Cooke at (520) 399-0455 to make arrangements.

Drip, Drip, Drip...
High winds & rain can result in plugged roof drains and water ponding on roofs. If you notice a neighbor's roof drain drip, drip, dripping long after the rain has stopped, an investigation may be in order. Check the EE directory to contact your neighbor, your Block Captain, or General Mary Beth Wallace our Neighborhood Watch Commander at 399-0299.

Great Job, Dean
Thanks to Dean Hess for leading the effort to clean up the neighborhood after the recent storm. An amazing number of trees and Ocotillos were uprooted or suffered broken limbs, but Dean got Monstrosity Tree Service on the job, and the debris is fast disappearing. The sounds of the chipper can be heard everywhere.

Lampposts
Recent storms have been wreaking havoc with our lamppost heads.  If you need a complete replacement or a missing part, you can buy one from the HOA at cost.
To do so, contact Tom Cooke at 399-0455.

For Residents Who Are Away
The monsoon last Monday caused widespread power outages in GV. (I'm told this is unusual.) If you are interested in knowing if there is an outage (did you leave food in your refrigerator?) you can sign up for outage notification at trico.coop and you'll get an email when an outage occurs.

New Cellphone Ordinance (originally reported in 5/22 MMM)
"Here's something you may not have heard about. A new Pima County ordinance banning cellphone use without a hands-free device while driving goes into effect on June 1."
The GV News has just reported that Sheriff's Deputies are no longer issuing warnings for violating the ordinance; using a cell phone without a hands-free device now gets you a ticket.
