Fourth of July Celebration
Celebrate Independence Day with your friends and neighbors at the Ramada starting at 6:00 p.m. There won't be fireworks or patriotic music, but the Hospitality Committee will be serving a Fourth of July feast of hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, baked beans, apple pie, watermelon, beer and wine for $7.00.

Wednesday Movie
The movie this week is DreamGirls. The film brings a Tony award-winning Broadway musical to the big screen in a tale of dreams, stardom, and the high cost of success in the cutthroat recording industry. In the 1960s, three singers find out just what it's like to have their wildest dreams come true. Discovered at a local talent show by an ambitious manager, the trio known as "the Dreamettes" is offered the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of opening for popular singer James "Thunder" Early (Eddie Murphy). Showtime is 7:15 p.m. at the Ramada. Thanks to the Ellingsons for sponsoring this event.

Hot Desert Cooling Off
The mighty men of Hot Desert landscaping will be absent this week. Look for them next on Wednesday, July 12, and marvel at the amazing job they do in weather that moves most of us indoors with a mojito.  And tip your hat to Common Area Maintenance Wizard Dean Hess, too. Knowing in which direction to point that finger is an acquired supervisory skill.

Umbrella Thefts
Sadly, thieves are at it again in EE. Two residents reported yard umbrellas being stolen from their front patios in broad daylight. In one case the thief had to crank down the umbrella to get it out the gate and then came back and stole the heavy stand along with it. If you have an umbrella in your front patio you may want to keep an eye on it and if possible take steps to secure it.
