Escape to the Wednesday Night Movie
Showtime is 7:15 p.m. at the Ramada. This week the Ellingsons have selected the classic action/adventure movie The Great Escape.
Released in 1963 and based on a true story, this film tells the story of allied prisoners and their escape from a Nazi POW camp.  Steve McQueen rode to fame in this one on a motorcycle speeding through a barrage of gunfire. Arrive a bit early to claim the fluffiest tush cushions.

The Bloom Continues
Back in the northland you've probably already enjoyed the blooms of spring and summer.  Here in the valley, we're enjoying another re-bloom.
Many flora re-bloom here after glorious monsoon rains.  Lavender, white and deep purple Texas rangers line the streets after 10 days.  Ocotillo sprout thick foliage within 48 hours.  Cactus bloom again.  Saguaro and barrel cacti expand and stretch every pleat with the added moisture. Gorgeous. Eat your heart out northlanders.

Save the Date
The Hospitality Committee has already planned the next event. There'll be a taco bar at the Ramada on August 8. The menu includes tacos, refried beans, dessert, beer and wine for $7.  Start time is 6:00 p.m. to beat the heat.
