Monday Morning Memo

May 30, 2016        Esperanza Estates        Green Valley, AZ

Memorial Day in Green Valley
A Memorial Day service hosted by the American Legion Post 66 will be held today, Monday, May 30, at 9 am at the Green Valley Mortuary and Cemetery, 18751 La Canada. This coincides with a 9:15 am jet flyover by the 162nd Fighter Wing based at the Tucson Air National Guard Base.

Classic Movie Night
Thanks to Eric and Jane Ellingson, Wednesday night is Classic Movie Night at the Ramada again.  Be there in time to cushion your seat for the 7 pm start of Stand By Me, the 1986 winner of the Golden Globe awards for best drama and best director (Rob Reiner).  Based on Stephen King's novella, The Body, the movie tells the story of three boys from the fictional town of Castle Rock, Oregon, who set out in 1959 to find the body of a missing child.  Rock along to the '50s and '60s classics and see Wil Wheaton, Richard Dreyfuss, River Phoenix, Keifer Sutherland and John Cusak looking as young as you still feel.

Time For A Trim
A reminder that it's time to arrange to have tall palm trees on your property trimmed.  Untrimmed palm trees pose a serious fire hazard because they are lightning magnets--especially during monsoon season.  Every year we hear reports of such fires in Green Valley.
The trimming should not take place until June 1, but needs to be completed by June 30. The HOA absolutely requires this to be done as a safety issue. Your cooperation in this matter will be appreciated, and it is in the best interests of you and your neighbors to do the necessary trimming.
The HOA uses Monstrosity Tree Service because they do a good job at a fair price.  Owners are free to use anyone they please, however. You can contact Monstrosity at: (520) 230-7131 or (520) 625-TREE, and they can do the trimming even if you are not in residence.

Road Warrior
EE's own Eric Ellingson was interviewed by KVOA-TV in Tucson recently regarding the state of county-maintained roads, including EE's streets.  If you missed the interview, click here.

In Memoriam
We are sad to report that Alexander ("Sandy") Reed passed away on May 26.  Sandy served on the HOA Board for several years and is perhaps best known in EE for authoring The Love Stories of Esperanza Estates.
Our condolences to his family and friends.
