Shocking! Pool & SPA Closed
The EE pool is being shocked and will remain closed until the algae has been eliminated. In case you wondered, "shocking" is also known as super chlorinating. It's a way to keep pool water safe and clean by adding three to five times the normal amount of chlorine or other chemical sanitizer to the pool water to drastically raise the chlorine level for a short time. This will help to kill bacteria and anything organic in the pool.
The hot tub is also closed for repairs. We will send out a notice when the pool and hot tub are open again.

Wednesday Night: No Movie
The movies remain on vacation this week, to resume June 6 with The Magnificent Seven. Thanks to Jane & Eric Ellingson for sponsoring this event.

Attention Readers
The EE Book Exchange in the pool enclosure area has been restocked thanks to some recent donations. More are always appreciated, especially during the two weeks from June 3 to 18 when the Green Valley Joyner Library will be closed for renovations.

Running a Garage Sale?  Beware!
An article in the GV News reported a counterfeit $50 bill was used at the Walgreen's on Esperanza Blvd. earlier this week. If you're planning a garage sale, it's worth being extra vigilant if handed a large denomination bill. (Click here for some tips on detecting counterfeit bills.)

Trim Your Palm
Have a tall palm or two in your yard? It's time to arrange to have them trimmed, to eliminate the fire hazard they create during monsoon season. The EE Board requires palms to be trimmed by
June 30th or the Board will do so at a cost+ to the property owner of $80.00/tree. Homeowners can hire anyone they desire. We have an agreement with Monstrosity Tree Service (520-230-7131) for $55.00/tree which they will honor for everyone.

For Those Who Are Away
If you are away for the summer and wonder what's up in Green Valley, you may be interested in some recent news: Northwest Healthcare has announced it plans to build a hospital in Sahuarita by the end of 2019.

Scamming the Scammers--Hard to Resist
It's so much fun to scam the "IRS", "mortgage", or "credit card" scammers.  "We'll send the money right away.  As soon as my partner wakes up.  She works for Treasury and was out on a stakeout last night."  That'll get a quick hang-up from the scammers.  But each phone call you answer puts your number on a system for more calls.
That letter that promises a flood of $100 bills, if you'll just start the ball rolling with your $100 "donation."  What fun it would be to copy a Benjamin Franklin and send it to them!  But no.  Making photocopies of paper currency of the United States violates Title 18, Section 474 of the U.S. Code. Just take the letter to the SAV Scam Squad between 9 AM and noon, Monday-Friday, call 520-351-6715, or email scamasquad@gvsav.org.

In Memoriam
We are saddened to report that Leon Meyer (Circulo Napa) passed away on Sunday, May 27. Our condolences to his family and friends.
