Monday Morning Memo

Wednesday Night Movie
This week's movie at the Ramada at 7:00 PM  is Sliding Doors starring Gwyneth Paltrow. A London woman's love life and career both hinge, unknown to her, on whether or not she catches a train. We see it both ways, in parallel. Thanks to Jane and Eric Ellingson for sponsoring this event.

Weeding
The Board would like to remind homeowners that it is the owners' responsibility to keep the yards in front of their walls weed free over the summer. If they fail to do so, the HOA will have the work done and bill the owner $60.

Vegetation in the Arroyos
The Board has determined that the HOA will not remove any live vegetation found in the arroyos or on the banks because it serves as erosion control. Homeowners may trim bushes growing above an arroyo, but should not remove any vegetation whose root structure is growing onto the banks of the arroyo. Call Dean Hess at 520-780-8995 if you have any questions.

Time to Trim the Tall Palms (Note corrected phone number)
Tall palm trees in EE must be trimmed in "carrot top" style by June 30th because dry fronds become a fire hazard during monsoon season. Although that's fairly ugly, the fronds do grow back rather quickly. Homeowners can hire anyone they desire to do the work. EE's agreement with Monstrosity Tree Service (520-230-7131) for $60.00/tree will be honored for everyone in EE. Trees still untrimmed by June 30 will be trimmed by the HOA with homeowners being billed $80/tree. Questions? Call Dean Hess at 520-780-8995.

How Tall is Tall?
At the recent meeting, the Board clarified that a "tall palm" is one that is higher than your roof. Shorter palms are not required to be trimmed.

Sidewalks
The county has fixed the sidewalks in EE that were safety hazards. If you notice any others, please call our GVC representative, Larry Kempton, at 520-403-8766.

Pickleball
The new courts are finished and open for play from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Group play starts at 8:30 AM. If you notice any safety issues, please report them to Kevin Welsh or Tom Cooke. Please note that players must wear shoes that will not mark the surface of the courts.

Restroom Keys
EE residents may obtain a key to the restrooms at the pickleball courts. They are not the same as the pool keys. Call Kevin Welsh at 231-838-6851 or Tom Cooke at 520-399-0455 for a restroom key. You can also obtain a pool key from Tom.

Trash Pickup
Due to the Memorial Day holiday, Titan and Republic pickup will be delayed one day. It appears from information on the Waste Management website that only Monday pickups will be delayed.

Street Sign Is Back
Dave Sielken reports that Pima County repaired the downed street sign at the corner of Napa and Ensalmo three days after having been notified. They will also replace the sign with a new one because the paint of the old one is faded.

Card Shower
Lee Kuiken Davis, who used to live in Esperanza Estates, is turning 90. Her family members are asking neighbors who know her to send birthday cards to help her celebrate. Cards should be sent by June 3 to:
Lee Davis
