Monday Morning Memo

May Board Meeting
The EE Board is scheduled to meet at the Ramada at 1 PM on Monday, May 21.
The gate to the pool area will be propped open to let attendees take a dip or shower should the temperature hit the century mark on that afternoon.

Wednesday Night Movie
This week's movie (7:00 PM in the Ramada) is Brooklyn the moving story of Eilis Lacey, a young Irish immigrant navigating her way through 1950s Brooklyn. Lured by the promise of America, Eilis departs Ireland and the comfort of her mother's home for the shores of New York City. The initial shackles of homesickness quickly diminish as a fresh romance develops. But soon, her new vivacity is disrupted by her past, and Eilis must choose between two countries and the lives that exist within. Thanks to Jane and Eric Ellingson for sponsoring this event.

Attention Fiber Arts Members
It's getting too hot to sit in the Ramada in the afternoon, so we will be meeting at members' homes on Thursdays at 1:00.
This week we will meet at Jane's, 160 Holgado.

Land Acquisition Update
From the Committee: "We are working with our partner HOAs in this venture toward the last crucial details of the documents for this transaction. We are optimistic that there will be finalized agreements very soon. This means that the pledge fulfillment letters will be coming out in the very near future. Please reaffirm your commitments so as to be prepared when the letters arrive. We will be asking for a quick turnaround. Also, as final costs are being recognized it appears that it will be very important to receive all of the monies that were pledged. We are closing in on the goal line and we will be in touch with request instructions just as soon as we have final details. Thanks to all of our neighbors! "

New Residents
Have you noticed the great front license plates with the EE logo that some of your neighbors display? You too can have one for a mere $5.00 which benefits the EE Gardeners. There are only a handful left. If you would like one, contact Cynthia Surprise at cjsurprise@verizon.net.

Palm Tree Trimming
A reminder that it's time to start thinking about arranging to have your tall palm trees trimmed to eliminate fire hazards during monsoon season. The EE Board requires palms to be trimmed by June 30th or the Board will arrange to have them trimmed at a per-tree cost to the property owner of $80.00.  Homeowners can hire anyone they desire.  We have an agreement with Monstrosity Tree Service (520-320-7131) for $55.00/tree, a price they will honor for all EE homeowners.

Construction Waste
From Dean Hess, Director of Common Area Maintenance: "Recently there have been several incidents of construction waste being dumped at various sites in EE. We try to keep our common areas clean, but it is difficult at times. When you hire contractors to do work on your property, make sure their price includes hauling any construction waste off EE property."

Secure Shredding and Recycling at Long Realty
The Green Valley office of Long Realty at Suite 101, 275 W. Continental Road is holding a free Shredding and Recycling Event on Saturday, May 19th from 9-11 AM, or until the truck is full.  Participants are asked to bring a monetary or food donation for each box to be recycled or shredded. Donations collected will benefit the Green Valley/ Sahuarita Community Food Bank.
The following items will be accepted for recycling: laptops, computers, keyboards, cables, cords, "mouses" (or is it mice?), DVD and VHS players, speakers and stereo equipment, phones, printers, fax machines, calculators, rechargeable and alkaline batteries. No TVs, monitors, or appliances.
Documents will be placed in locked containers at the drop-off site and transported to the Beacon Secure facility for shredding.
