Wednesday Night Movie
This week's movie (7:00 PM in the
Ramada) is Seabiscuit and will get you in the mood for
the Kentucky Derby next week. This film is based on the
inspiring true story of three men - a jockey, a trainer and a
businessman - and the undersized racehorse that took the entire
nation on the ride of a lifetime. Thanks to Jane and Eric
Ellingson for sponsoring this event.
Save the Date
The next Hospitality Committee event will be the
traditional Cinco de Mayo potluck on (you guessed it) Saturday,
May 5. Socializing starts at 4:30 (margaritas
will be available in addition to wine and soft drinks) with
dinner at 5:00. Festive attire is encouraged.
Attention Book Discussion Group Members
At the next meeting on May 8 at 1:00 PM, the
group will discuss Hotel Paradise and will also
consider selections for next year. You can find the list of
recommended books from which the group will choose in the March
issue of the Periodico available on our website esperanzaestates.net.
Bring any other book suggestions to the meeting.
PM Water Aerobics
Afternoon water aerobics will go on hiatus starting
this week, as all leaders have or are returning to their summer
homes. Afternoon sessions will resume in the fall when the
leaders have returned. They thank the participants for a great
season of fun and good exercise.
Birdbath Surprise
A Sneaky Snake coiled her entire 5-foot length into an
EE on-the-ground water dish to wait for fly-in meal delivery
this week. House Finch was on the menu. A call to Green
Valley's Fire Department and Desert Pest Removal Volunteers 520-629-9200 resulted
in reptile relocation.
Great Time of Year for a Canoa Ranch Tour
If you haven't visited historic Canoa Ranch at 5375 S I-19
Frontage Road, there's a great chance for a visit this week.
Both the docent-led Tuesday walking tour and Wednesday's
special behind-the-scenes Restoration Tour begin at 9 AM.

Beat Back Bufflegrass
Join Freeport-McMoRan and the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum
in fighting Buffel Grass from 7:00 - 10:00 AM on Sunday,
April 29th. Meet at
the West Desert Trails entrance gate at the end of Golden
Desert Way; bring hats, sunscreen, water, and boots or
closed-toe shoes.
Food will be provided.
