Purchase of Land on Esperanza Boulevard
The committee has made great progress on the plan to remove the vacant land from the possibility of development. A report will be presented at the EE Board meeting on Monday.

Coffee and Donuts
Join your neighbors this Wednesday at 8:30 AM in the Ramada for complimentary coffee & donuts. A great chance to bid farewell to our seasonal residents. Thanks to the Cookes and the Surprises for sponsoring this monthly event.

Wednesday Night Movie
This week's movie (7:00 PM in the Ramada) is The Sting, starring Paul Newman and Robert Redford as two grifters who con a mob boss. Thanks to Jane and Eric Ellingson for sponsoring this event.

They Were Dancing in the Aisles
Thanks to the Hospitality Committee for a great Spring Fling last Saturday.  There was music and dancing in addition to great food and comraderie.  Special thanks to Terry Golden and her daughter Laura for donating baskets made from vintage LPs, which raise money for new kitchen cupboards, and to Al Prato, Kevin Welsh, Jim Copeland and Terry Shay for their grilling prowess.

Attention Book Discussion Group Members
The group voted to change the date & time of future meetings to the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 1:00. At the next meeting on May 8, the group will discuss Hotel Paradise and will also consider selections for next year. You can find the list of recommended books from which the group will choose in the March issue of the Periodico available on the EE website esperanzaestates.net.

Summertime, and the Living Is Not Easy
...for the plants in our common areas. The EE Gardeners are looking for summertime water people for Mountain View Park. The job involves turning a hose on for one hour once a week. If multiple people are available you can alternate or make some other arrangements. Call Jim Copeland at 952-250-5399 if you can help.

PM Water Aerobics
Reminder that starting this week, afternoon water aerobics will meet on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 2:30.

EE's Own "Watergate"
The gates that control access to the pool and spa have not been closing and latching lately. Thanks to Greg Gramstad for making the needed adjustments to get both gates to close and latch without needing an extra shove.

Green Valley Food Bank
As you get ready to head back to your summer home, please consider giving your pantry items to the Food Bank. There is always a bin on the back counter in the Ramada kitchen ready to accept donations. Thanks to Jane and Eric Ellingson for transporting the bins to the Food Bank.

A Thank You from Fisher House
"A sincere thank you to all those great Esperanza neighbors who donated supplies to Fisher House at the Spring Fling on Saturday. I will be delivering the supplies this week. These folks do a lot of good for the families of veterans at the VA hospital and it's a very good feeling knowing we in Esperanza Estates are helping out. New Medicare Cards Coming
A future Scam Squad article in the GV News will go into much more detail about the new Medicare card you should expect to receive between now and April of 2019. Two KEY PIECES of information you should be aware of right now are: 1) there is NO CHARGE for the new card; 2) Medicare WILL NOT contact you by phone to ask for confirmation of your Social Security Number or ANY other information related to your Medicare account.
If you get a call from someone claiming to be from Medicare, IT IS A SCAM; just hang up (and pat yourself on the back)!

Beat Back Bufflegrass
Join Freeport-McMoRan and the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum in fighting buffelgrass from 7:00 - 10:00 AM on Sunday, April 29th. Meet at the West Desert Trails entrance gate at the end of Golden Desert Way and bring hats, sunscreen, water, boots or closed-toe shoes. Food will be provided.
