Monday Morning Memo

December 10, 2018        Esperanza Estates        Green Valley, AZ

Some Like It Hot
Kudos to Charlie Bonham and Frank McCabe for repairing our Ramada heaters and setting up the new ones. Thanks also to our Enhancement Team for financing the new heaters. We'll be toasty at Ramada events this winter.

Want Your Check to Clear in 2018?
Want that EE dues check to arrive on time and clear in 2018?  Use the envelope provided for dues.  Put your ballot only in the envelopes provided for ballots.  Those are the ones with a line for your signature on the back. Ballot envelopes will not be opened until January 15th.  You can drop both envelopes in the locked box at the Ramada if you're here in Green Valley.

Support Hot Desert
The Hot Desert Landscaping crew, headed by Renye, is always friendly and helpful. They frequently do extra things above and beyond the call of duty. Want to show your appreciation? Make a contribution to a Christmas gratuity at the Sweet and Savory Celebration on December 15th or call Jane Ellingson at 520-625-7782.

Wednesday Night Movie at the Ramada
This week's movie is The Greatest Showman, a 2017 musical film inspired by the story of P.T. Barnum's creation of the Barnum & Bailey Circus and the lives of its star attractions. Showtime is 7:00 PM. Thanks to Jane and Eric Ellingson for sponsoring this event.

Pedestrian Crossing at Nogales
If you have a handicapped hang-tag, take it across the border with you. With the tag in hand, you'll be allowed to use the line for SENTRI passes on the LEFT to reduce your return line wait time.

Saturday's Sweet and Savory Celebration
Join your neighbors at the Sweet and Savory Holiday Celebration Saturday, December 15th. Social hour begins at 4:30 PM with food to follow at 5:00. Even addresses should bring appetizers and odd addresses desserts. Wine, beer, water, soda, and Southern Comfort Punch will be available at this no charge event. There will be an ugly sweater contest, with bottles of wine for prizes and two gift baskets will be raffled off to support the team. Also, there will be an optional gift grab. To participate, bring a small, wrapped gift from home. It should be slightly used or even new (under $5.00).

Board Candidate Statements
The Board candidate statements have been updated to include the information for Howland Swift. To view the statements, click here.

Book Discussion Luncheon
The Book Discussion Group will go to lunch at Firefly in Amado on Friday, December 14, so there is no book for December.  Please call Linda Sielken (908-240-1887) today if you plan on attending.

Attention Artisans
The group will meet at Lila's house, 801 Regalo, this week, where it will be warmer than the Ramada.

New Phone Number?
If your phone number has changed since last year's EE Name & Address Directory was published, please send your new number to Cheri Day (thedays007@aol.com) by Dec. 15. New directories will be for sale at the EEHOA annual meeting in January.

No Happy Hour
If you go to the Ramada this Friday for Happy Hour, you will not experience happiness.  Happy Hour is cancelled this week because of the Hospitality event on Saturday.

Attention Neighborhood Watch Block Captains
Please return any information updates to Neighborhood Watch Chairperson, Karen White, by December 15.  If you have not received your sheets call Karen at (520)648-3993 so that she can get the sheet to you.  There will be a meeting of Neighborhood Watch Block Captains and potential Block Captains at the Ramada on Friday, December 14, at 12:45 PM.  SAV will be giving a short presentation followed by a discussion.

In Memoriam
Our condolences to the family and friends of Rasso Gander (Circulo del Sur) who passed away on December 6.

Helpful Hints for HOA Happiness
The Board is aware that not everyone reads and understands EE's CC&Rs and Rules, so they have asked the Monday Morning Memo to include reminders of issues that often occur, disrupting the peace and harmony of our community.  We are paraphrasing and abbreviating the CC&Rs and Rules, so if an item applies to you, read the full applicable section of the CC&Rs or Rules or call a Board member for clarification. Here's this week's hint: House rentals must be for a minimum of 30 days. You may only rent out the entire house, not a room. If you advertise on sites such as VRBO, your ad should clearly state what the minimum rental period is. Renters must meet the same age requirements as homeowners (at least one person must be 55+ and children must be at least 18 years old).
