Arts & Crafts Fair
Twelve innovative EE residents will be offering their handmade creations at the 3rd Annual Esperanza Estates Arts and Crafts Fair from 1PM to 4PM on Saturday, December 2nd at the Ramada. Artists/participants are reminded that they will begin setting up at 11:30.

Wednesday Night Movie
This week's movie is Woman in Gold starring Helen Mirren.  Showtime is 7:00 p.m. at the Ramada. The movie is based on the true story of a feisty octogenarian, a Jewish refugee who takes on the Austrian government to recover artwork she believes rightfully belongs to her family. Thanks to Jane and Eric Ellingson for sponsoring this popular event.

The Holiday Elves Are Back
No "Bah Humbug" heard here! EE has a long-standing tradition of decorating our street light posts for the holiday season from Thanksgiving to New Years.  If you don't have the time or the energy, or you aren't here during the holidays, you can enlist the aid of the Enhancement Elves. They will do your decorating for a mere $10 if you have the decorations or $15 if you don't.  If you need the electrical plug-in to go in the socket in your post, the charge is an additional $2.00, but the adapter then becomes yours.  The charge includes both putting up and removing the decorations. The Elves start right after Thanksgiving and the deadline for requesting this service is December 10 (Santa has first dibs on them after that), so if you want the Elves to work their magic at your lamp post, call Jackie Rautio at 269-7864. They do extremely nice work.

"Amateur" Afternoon Water Aerobics
Robin and Dean Lockwood are hoping to gather a group of water aerobics enthusiasts to join them on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 2:30 to 3:30 at the pool each week.  Since they have no official leader, they are hoping to continue in the format the group ended with last spring, where they lead themselves with a group effort each session.  It was fun and they still always managed to get a good workout. Robin and Dean will be in the pool beginning Monday, November 27th, and hope to see some of you there to join them.  Dates and times are open to discussion once they get the group started.

Book Discussion Group
The EE Book Discussion Group will meet on Tuesday, December 5, at 11:00 a.m. in the Ramada.  EE resident Ginny Sollars will talk about writing her book, Windswept, A South Pacific Adventure. Members will also bring suggestions for books others may enjoy reading.

New Plantings
The Enhancement Team has installed replacement plants in the blue pots and planter at the EE monument on Esperanza Blvd. They are the ultimate in no water plants -- metal. Cyndie and Vera Gates and Tammy Kempton made the selection and Jim Copeland and Kevin Welsh did the planting.
The garden in front of the monument at the Ramada was also rejuvenated. Jane Ellingson did the design and Hot Desert Landscaping (under the supervision of Dean Hess) did the labor. Stop by to enjoy the park bench that was previously sinking into the sand.

Snakes Still Around
From Jim Copeland: "This week while making my rounds I found a 4 foot bull snake in the water connection box at Esperanza park.  Not a big deal as it was happy to leave after I opened the box.  Two weeks ago I found a smaller rattler in the water box at shade tree park. So my advice is be careful when opening the water control boxes.  Once the box is open the snake is generally happy to leave.  Problem should go away once colder weather comes our way.

Pool Gate
The gate on the south side of the pool enclosure has been adapted to facilitate access by people using scooters.  Please do not place anything such as chairs or heaters where they would make it difficult for a scooter to pass by.

Road Repair
From Joe McCalpin, our GVC representative: At a meeting on Tuesday, November 28, the Transportation Advisory Council will vote on what recommendation it will send to the Board of Supervisors regarding road repair. The County's recommendation is to repair roads in good condition rather than fix failed roads. We can provide support for GVC's plan by sending emails to Lucretia Free (one of Steve Christy's staffers and a member of TAC). Her email address is Lucretia.Free@pima.gov. If the County's approach is taken NO money will be spent in Green Valley next year.

The More the Merrier--Elections 2018
Want to get acquainted with your neighbors? Run for the EE Board. Part-time residents are encouraged to run.  Monthly meetings are scheduled for the third Monday of each month except July and August, but it is acceptable to be out of town for a couple of them.  Your name can still be added to the list of board candidates, contact Kris Bean at eekris2017@outlook.com or Joe McCalpin at 520-867-8067.
