Monday Morning Memo

November 2, 2015        Esperanza Estates        Green Valley, AZ

Aqua Exercise Moves to 8:30 am
Beginning this Wednesday, November 4, EE's aqua exercise group will be starting at 8:30 am.  This will give early lap swimmers more of a head start and hopefully add a few degrees to the air temperature for participants in the popular Monday, Wednesday and Friday exercise group.

Book Discussion Group
The group will meet at the Ramada on Tuesday, November 3, at 11:00 a.m. to discuss State of Wonder by Ann Patchett.  New members are welcome.

Budget Committee Meeting
The first 2016 budget meeting will be held on Thursday, November 5, at 10:00 a.m. at the Ramada. It will be an open meeting for all homeowners.

Special Board Meeting
The Board will hold a Special on Thursday, November 12, at 1:00 p.m. at the Ramada to discuss the 2016 budget. All EE HOA members are invited.

Women's Pickleball Changes Schedule--It's a Woman's Prerogative Isn't It?
Pickleball for the Wonder Women of Esperanza Estates will commence at noon on Thursdays at the EE courts.  Contact Linda Sielken at (908)-240-1887 for more information--or just show up.  You'll be glad you did.

EE's Black Friday Event
The EE Artisans will hold an arts & crafts sale on Friday, November 27, from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m.  Any resident who is interested in selling their items should contact Barbara Copeland at 952-250-6716 or jlbrcopeland@aol.com to reserve a table.  There is no fee for selling items. This is not a fund raiser, and sellers can keep all the profits from selling their items.

EE Artisans
The EE Artisans will meet at the Ramada every Thursday (starting November 19) at 1:00 p.m.  The second Thursday of the month will generally be for a field trip or a workshop to learn a specific craft. On the other Thursdays, members will gather to work on their own projects, such as knitting.  New members are always welcome. The workshop for January 14 will be potato printmaking.

Greatest Pumpkin
Thanks to the Hospitality Committee for a wonderful Halloween Party.  Clever and elaborate costumes proved that Halloween isn't just for kids.  Lead by the talented Barbara Copeland, the group used pumpkins decorated with vegetables as table decorations.  Congratulations to Barbara Thompson who won the best decorated pumpkin contest and received a gift certificate to Cayley Cakes.

From the Hospitality Committee
The Hospitality Team (AKA party planners) will meet at the Ramada Wednesday, November 4, at 10:00 a.m. to schedule and plan events for "the season".  New team players are always welcome (volunteers have more fun!).

Burger Night! Nov. 10th, 4:30 socialize, 5:00 p.m. dinner. The Hospitality Team brings back this popular event with chefs Jim Sourant and Dave Sielken at the grill. No reservations required and your $6 will get you a big juicy burger (with the works), chips, pickles, cookies, beer, wine, pop & water. What a deal!

The refrigerator in the Ramada is dying a slow death and a replacement will be needed in the near future. If you have a working refrigerator (double doors, 18 - 20 cu. ft.) that you are no longer using and feel drawn to help your community, your donation of that unused refrigerator would be greatly appreciated.

Pop Tops Wanted
Ellie Franz would like to thank all the EE residents who have been dropping can tabs into the designated green coffee can on the Ramada counter.  The tabs are donated to the Ronald McDonald House in Tucson.  If the resident who left a canvas bag with the tabs would like the bag returned, please give Ellie a call.

Smoke Detectors
Daylight savings time ended in most of the country on Sunday morning.  Here in Arizona we don't set the clocks back, but the twice a year time change is a good reminder to change the batteries in your smoke detectors.

Attention Authors
The Santa Cruz Valley Chapter of the Society of Southwestern Authors will host Lynn Wiese Sneyd as their monthly speaker today, November 2, from 1:00 to 2:45 p.m. at Joyner Library. Lynn will present an overview of available publishing options and how each affects distribution, marketing, sales, royalties, and the publication of future books. Lynn is the owner of LWS Literary Services, an agency specializing in book development, editing, ghostwriting, book proposals, query letters, and book publicity. All monthly programs are free and open to the public, held at the Joyner Library.

In Memoriam
We are sad to report that long-time resident Don White (Circulo Napa) passed away on October 27. Our condolences to his wife, Joan, his family and friends.
