EE HOA, Green Valley, AZ
Monday Morning Memo

November 19, 2018        Esperanza Estates        Green Valley, AZ

Board Meeting Today
The EEHOA Board will meet today, Monday, November 19, at 1:00 PM at the Ramada.  All residents are welcome to attend. It's a good way for new residents to learn how our HOA works.  The standard agenda is at the bottom of this memo.

No Coffee & Donuts
There won't be Coffee & Donuts this week so everyone can prepare for Thanksgiving by keeping their calorie count down.

No Movie
There won't be a movie this week so everyone can prepare for Thanksgiving.

EE Gardeners Get Their Gloves On
The Gardeners will meet Wednesday at the Ramada at 9:00 AM. They will do a clean up at Mountain View Park and also Shade Tree Park next to the tennis/pickleball courts.  It's a good way to get some fresh air for a couple of hours (and exercise will be credited toward your Thanksgiving eating account). Everyone at EE is welcome, it's a chance to meet old and new friends. Bring gloves and a rake.

Update on Camino del Portillo
From the Pima County pavement preservation manager: crack sealing will take place on November 19 and 20. Micro-surfacing will take place December 11 - 13.

Arts & Crafts Sale
EE's annual Arts & Crafts Sale is right around the corner. On Saturday, December 1, from 10:00 AM to noon at the Ramada you'll be able to buy handcrafted items made by your talented neighbors.  It's a great chance to buy some unique holiday gifts or a little present for yourself. If you want to reserve a table to sell your work, contact  Marla Ries at gvmarlaries@gmail.com.

Time to Decorate Those Lamp Posts
Don't be a grinch.  EE has a long-standing tradition of decorating our street light posts for the holiday season from Thanksgiving to New Years.  If you don't have the time or the energy, or you aren't here during the holidays, you can enlist the aid of the Enhancement Elves.  They will decorate your post for just $10 if you already have the decorations, or $15 if you don't.  If you need a plug adapter for the lamp socket, the charge is an additional $2.00, but the adapter is then yours.  The charge includes both putting up and removing the decorations. The Elves start right after Thanksgiving and the deadline for requesting this service is December 6 (Santa has first dibs on them after that.)  If you want the Elves to work their magic at your lamp post, call Jackie Rautio at 269-7864. They do extremely nice work.

Hospitality Committee News
The Hospitality committee will now be co-chaired by Janet Kawalski, Kathy Lindeman and Robin Lockwood.  Thanks to these volunteers for stepping up to make sure EE continues its tradition.  The next Hospitality event will be a Sweet and Savory Holiday Celebration on Saturday, December 15th.  It will be an appetizer/dessert pot luck.  Even addresses should bring appetizers and odd addresses should bring desserts.  Wearing ugly Christmas sweaters/shirts is encouraged, with prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.  There will be a gift basket raffle to help raise funds for the committee, and there will be a fun "white elephant" gift exchange for those who would like to participate. Social hour will begin at 4:30 PM and food will be served at 5:00.  Wine, beer, water, soda and Southern Comfort Punch will be available. There will be no charge for this event.

Book Discussion Group--Just a Menu to Read This Time
The Book Discussion Group will go to lunch on Friday, December 14, so there is no book for December.  Details will be provided in next week's memo.  The group will resume on January 8 when Karen O'Brien will lead a discussion of A Man Called Ove by Frederik Backman.

Attention Neighborhood Watch Block Captains
It's that time of the year again when we check with our EE neighbors for updates for the Esperanza Estates Directory for 2019.  Please return any updates to Neighborhood Watch Chairperson, Karen White.  If you have not received your block sheets, please call Karen at (520)648-3993 and she will get them to you asap.  If you've recently returned to Green Valley, or will be returning from being out of town, please leave a voicemail for Karen and provide your estimated date of return, so that she can get the sheet to you.  The updates on emergency contact and new neighbor information are due back to Karen by December 15.  Also there will be a Neighborhood Watch Block Captain meeting at the  Ramada on Friday, December 14, at  12:45 PM.  The meeting is open to Block Captains and  those who are interested in becoming a block captain.  SAV will be giving a short presentation and we will have a question, answer, discussion and suggestion time after the presentation.

Looking for a Way to Volunteer in EE?
Neighborhood Watch has several openings for block captains. If you are interested in joining this important group, call Karen White at (520)648-3993 or attend the meeting mentioned in the article above.
