Wednesday Night Movie
This week's movie at 7:00 PM at the Ramada is Captain Ron, starring Martin Short and Kurt Russell. Plot: A family in Chicago inherits the yacht formerly owned by Clark Gable. They decide to sail it from the island of Ste. Pomme de Terre to Miami, and they sail with the assistance of Captain Ron and their lives will never be the same again. Thanks to Jane and Eric Ellingson for sponsoring this event and to Nick Clement for providing the movie.

Board Meeting
The next meeting of the EEHOA Board is Monday, October 15, at 1:00 PM at the Ramada.  Attending is a good way to find out about what's happening in EE.

Book Discussion Group
The group will meet on Tuesday, October 9, at 1:00 PM at the Ramada when Linda Sielken will lead a discussion of A Piece of the World by Christina Baker Kline.  New members are always welcome.  Not available for this meeting?  Get a head start on the November 11th discussion by dusting off your copy of Pavilion of Women by Pearl S. Buck.

Coffee & Donuts Returns
Please join your friends and neighbors for complimentary coffee & donuts on Wednesday, October 17, at 8:30 AM at the Ramada.  For you new residents, this is a monthly event held on the Wednesdays following the monthly board meetings.  Just a low key event to start your day.  Stop by on your morning walk or on your way to your next activity.  Thanks to the Cookes and the Surprises for sponsoring this event.

Esperanza Jams
Marla Ries would like to start an acoustical instrument musical group to make music together.  The first gathering will be on Thursday, November 8, at 3:00 PM at Marla's house, 852 Calle del Regalo. You can read more details in the October issue of the Periodico which is available on the EE website.  Contact Marla at gvmarlaries@gmail.com or 360-708-0855 if you have any questions.

Attention EE Artisans
Time to start preparing for EE's annual Arts and Crafts Sale on Saturday, December 1, from 10:00 AM to noon at the Ramada. It will be open to the public, so it's a good way to give your creations wide exposure. If you would like to reserve a table, contact Marla Ries at gvmarlaries@gmail.com.

Free Breakfast at the Fire Station
Green Valley Fire District Station 151 at 250 N. La Canada is cooking up a free breakfast to thank residents for their support.  Pancakes, sausage, and eggs are on the menu for Friday, October 12 from 7-10 am.  Participants should park in the Green Valley Community Church parking lot, 300 W. Esperanza.

BatWeek
Who knew those little critters had their own week?  Bat Conservation International (BCI) is leading a new initiative to sustainably feed bats and restore their natural habitat. Join volunteers from Freeport-McMoRan Sierrita operations and BCI in planting native agaves (an essential source of food and habitat for several migratory bat species). The event is Thursday, October 18, 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM. Bring hats, sunscreen, water, gloves and sturdy closed toed shoes or boots. Snacks will be provided. Meet at West Desert Trails entrance gate at Trail 340 and 337. It's located at the end of Golden Desert Way (off North Desert Bell Drive). Contact Tamra Baxter at 520-393-2711 for more information.
